IAIDQ Board of Directors 2008 Election:

Announcement

Dear Member,

We have just finished the IDQ2008 Conference. This year's event has really reinforced the community values of the IAIDQ with plenty of networking and lots and lots of collaboration and learning. As an Association we are all recharged now to face into the coming year, during which we hope to find even more great stories to share about the value of information quality to our organizations.

We are excited to announce the opening of board positions for election. This is a significant opportunity for members to take a lead role in the development of the Association and the profession and to give your fellow members the benefit of your  skills, experience, enthusiasm, and energy.

This year's board elections features a few positions that are open for re-election as well as a number of roles that the Board  has identified as being key contributors to the future development of the Association. Two positions are being filled due to mid-term resignations, which gives us an opportunity to invite new thinking and perspectives to the Board.

As a result, some of the roles are to be elected for 2 year terms and others for 1 year.

The Board may be a little bigger, but the elected Directors will be better placed to focus their energies on executing our  strategies effectively and delivering value to our members.

Six Board positions are up for election (all position descriptions are posted on the IAIDQ web site. Click on the position title to see the position description).

Benefits of being a Director

Being a Director is an incredible opportunity for members to lead positive change in the information quality profession for the benefit of the wider community. As a member you can contribute, but as a Director you lead the planning, prioritising and delivering the objectives of the Association.

In addition, Directors have a unique oversight of the strategic and pragmatic challenges facing information quality professionals and the profession over and above that which might be seen by members in normal circumstances.

Furthermore, writers on business leadership have identified leadership of not-for-profits as being an excellent way to develop useful skills and capabilities which help business leaders succeed in their other ventures.

Over the coming weeks, some of our directors will be sharing with you their experiences of Board membership and what it has meant for them.

So, if you feel you have something to contribute and would like to reap the rewards that come with being an IAIDQ Director, please nominate yourself (or if you are humble, ask a friend to nominate you). You can nominate for as many positions that interest you, but you can only be elected to one position.

Call for Nominations

If you would like to take a more active role, or to nominate someone else, to assist in the running of the IAIDQ, this is an excellent time to do so. The Board of Directors invites all IAIDQ members to seek a Board position. The Association needs a steady stream of strong, resourceful and dedicated leaders in order to grow and succeed.

Over the next few weeks we will be in touch letting you know how current board members have gained personally from serving on the board.

Election Rules

IAIDQ elections are governed by our Bylaws (Elections for Board of Directors and Advisory Council) [PDF]
