January 2010: IDQ Newsletter Vol 6 Issue 1

Dear fellow members:

We’ve got a great line-up of articles in this quarter’s issue, all designed to help Information and Data Quality professionals start the year 2010 on the right track:

  • Guy Tozer presents sage and timeless advice for information and data quality professionals in The Golden Rules of Data Quality Management; consider this a suggested list of new year resolutions.
  • Saša Baškarada presents research findings from the recently published book IQM-CMM: Information Quality Management Capability Maturity Model. This research identifies a wide range of information quality management maturity indicators and maps them to a staged evolutionary capability maturity model.
  • Jack Olson starts a two-part series on Data Quality Assurance. Part One, which appears in this quarter’s issue, focuses on the goals, structure, and methods that any Data Quality Assurance program must consider.
  • Daragh O Brien, in part 3 of his series on KPIs for Information Quality, explores the Psychology of Rewards and emphasizes the need to carefully align our Information Quality objectives, goals, metrics, and rewards.
  • Graham Rhind elaborates on the benefits of designing web-based forms that ensure high-quality data gathering, and points us to design solutions that are freely available in his e-book, Better Data Quality from your Web Forms.

This issue also features Daragh O Brien’s review of Information Quality Applied, the latest book from Larry English.

Don’t forget to visit the Association News section for information on the upcoming 2010 IDQ Conference, as well as recent IAIDQ Board Transitions.

Finally, the Call for Contributions for our next issue ends on March 10, 2010. I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
